Women of Value: C is for Can-Do

THE A TO Z OF WOMEN OF VALUE

C is for CAN-DO: Women of Value are CAN-DOERS!

As there are 31 posts in 31 days, and only 26 letters in the alphabet I am allowed to stay on some of letters for a an extra post - and C is a goodie for all sorts of words for Women of Value.  Today's word is CAN - and the quote below says it a nutshell - WOMEN of VALUE do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you CAN-DO!

I love the app QUORA, www.quora.com   On QUORA people ask an amazing array of questions and get responses from all around the world.  One of the particular questions I have been following is

I really encourage you to look up some of the responses,http://www.quora.com/Life-Advice/What-can-I-start-doing-now-that-will-help-me-a-lot-in-about-five-years.

The following response caught my eye:

1. Eat healthy. Try to reduce /eliminate junk food.

2. Exercise 15 minutes a day.

3. Join public speaking groups - eg Toastmasters. Watch and learn how great speakers talk eg. Steve Jobs, any top business, political leaders etc

4. Learn how to code and join open source community. Replace this with any skill of your choice, preferably something that has high demand eg. Electronic circuit design, graphic design

5. Learn how to sell, go out there and sell something, anything. Get used to rejections and you will be unstoppable.

6. Talk to 1 stranger everyday. Stranger = opportunity. Opportunity to make new friend, to get new ideas, to get rid of that fear talking to stranger, to start a business venture and much more. Heck yeah, that stranger might be your future soulmate

7. Write 20 ideas on anything everyday. Keep digging and you might find gold. When you find gold, make sure you take action

8. Meditate everyday

9. Read positive materials every morning. Stop reading newspaper in the morning.

10. Write 5 reasons why you are grateful everyday before you sleep.

Now ladies of those 10 what CAN you DO right now as you head in to a new week?

Here is another response that I really liked:

Laugh - seriously just laugh at everything.  Laugh at comedy but learn to laugh at tragedy to.  Find the light(heartedness) in the dark moments.  But especially have fun laughing at yourself.

Love - everything you can get your hands on.  Love like a kindergartener.  Oh I love that movie.  Oh I love that person s/he is my bestest friend ever.  I love my people.  I love physics!  I love....fill in the blank.  And especially love yourself.

You will do well at what you love. And when you fall down - remember rule number one - laugh.  It will pass.

Don't worry about aging - you are going to.  Don't worry about you life not being long enough - it will be just right, just like you are.  Don't worry about what everyone else is doing - you are good your way.  Don't worry about yourself so much - joy is out there - not in your head full of worries - go find it.  Choose to laugh, choose to love, and most of all - be grateful you have the choice.

And to finish up the blog today, here is a list of 10 ways to make ideas happen from an amazing business women, who I can't wait to introduce you to in my blog in the next month or so:

1. Remove the words “I can’t” from your vocabulary.

2. Focus on the possibilities instead of the limitations.

3. Remember that there is a solution for every problem (some are just harder to find than others).

4.Write it down and set a deadline.

5. Allow yourself to receive help (there is no gold star for doing it all yourself).

6. Be open to feedback and suggestions.

7. Learn how to enjoy the process (it may take you a while to get there, so you might as well enjoy it)!

8. Reward yourself and be proud of even the tiniest steps of progress.

9. Hang around with people who make their ideas happen.

10. START, even if you don’t know how you are going to finish.

Now go be a CAN-DOER!
